EXERCISE & FITNESS:
Tips for improving your exercise experience:

  • Exercise with a friend. You are less likely to talk yourself out of an exercise session if you are responsible to meet up with someone else.
  • Don’t feel like you have to join a gym, walking can be done anywhere and is a great form of exercise. However, do feel free to look into local gyms in your area, but be sure to ask about weight limits on exercise equipment (many are built to hold up to 300 – 400 lbs).
  • Listen to music while you exercise, but be aware of your surroundings.
  • Drink plenty of water. The body’s main avenue for cooling itself is through the evaporation of sweat. Even if you do not feel like you are sweating a lot, you are still losing body water which puts you at risk for dehydration.
  • Warm up and cool down. You must allow a minimum of 3 minutes for your body to both warm up and cool down from exercise. This simply means doing your chosen form of exercise at a lower intensity, but is very important for preventing injury and cardiovascular response issues.
  • Beware of gimmicks. If a piece of exercise equipment claims to do things that sound to be too good to be true, don’t buy into it.
