Screenings
Annual health screenings are an important part of your ongoing wellness and
health care. It’s important to ask your physician or health care provider
what’s appropriate for your age, gender, and ethnicity. And, find out
if you and your family are up-to-date on all of your immunizations.
At Northwest Hospital & Medical Center, we offer a variety of screenings
– from cancer to heart disease - to help you form your personalized health
plan.
Breast Cancer
Annual screening mammograms start at age 40. Women who have
a strong family history of breast cancer should start screening 10 years before
the age that the primary relative (mother or sister) was diagnosed. For more
information visit the Seattle Breast Center section
of our website, or contact the Center at 206-368-5950 to
schedule your appointment.
Coronary Artery Calcium Scoring (CT Scan)
CT scanning is performed to visualize calcified plaque in the coronary arteries.
The degree of calcified plaque is measure, scored, and compared with age-based
data to assess plaque burden and the extent of coronary artery disease. Men
and women between ages 40-70 years of age, who have any of the following risk
factor would benefit most:
- High blood pressure
- Smoking
- Diabetes
- Family history of heart disease
- High cholesterol
Coronary Artery Calcium Scoring tests require a physician referral and is offered
only as a patient direct pay exam (not covered by insurance). Call 206-368-2778
to schedule your CT Scan.
